With 28 offices in 16 countries, Ashurst offers the reach and insight of a global network, combined with the knowledge and understanding of local markets. Our 1600 partners and lawyers work across 11 different time zones, responding to our clients wherever and whenever they need us.
Our clients are at the heart of our thinking and our ambition is to be the most progressive global law firm. We are able to achieve this by being at the forefront of legal technology innovation with initiatives such as Ashurst Advance Digital, which is dedicated to designing, developing and delivering technology-based solutions for our clients' ever-evolving needs.
We build strong partnerships with our prestigious client base, working closely together on large and complex multi-jurisdictional transactions to deliver incisive commercial solutions. Our global reach provides opportunities for our people to work in numerous jurisdictions with leading international organisations across the world.
We also foster an inclusive working environment which genuinely values the breadth of individual perspectives and contributions that we gain from having a diverse workforce. It’s a strong, shared culture that will enable you to apply your intellect, develop yourself and thrive as an international commercial lawyer.
We will be accepting training contract applications to start in March & September 2023 from 4 January to 25 June 2021.
Applications are open between 7 September – 19 October 2020 at midday for our winter vacation scheme.
Applications open between 5 October 2020 and 8 January 2021 for the summer scheme.
We will be accepting applications for our first year scheme from 5 October 2020 to 29 January 2021.
You’ll need to become a shrewd negotiator, have an ability to read both balance sheets and behaviours, and become a commercial strategist with a deep understanding of specific industries.
Our training contract will start you on that road. We will plan closely with you four seats of six months each, that will broaden your world view and hone your talents. At least one seat will be in a finance practice and another within a transactional department. You will also have the opportunity to apply for an overseas or client secondment.
The best way to understand what it feels like to work here is to actually work here. Every year, we hold three vacation schemes – a one- week scheme in Spring for first-year law students, a one-week winter vacation scheme for finalists and graduates of all degree disciplines and a three-week summer scheme which is also open to penultimate year law students- each designed to give you an intensive experience of our culture and the kind of work we do.
We work hard to make sure they're as useful and as stimulating as possible; in fact, we organise the schemes along with a committee of trainees who've been where you've been and know the best way to introduce you to the firm.
On the winter scheme, you’ll spend one week in one practice area – and on the summer scheme, you will experience two practice areas.
You will also learn about our specialist areas by attending workshops. There’s also a chance to get involved in team-building events to experience the way we work together, and social events to get to know our associates and current trainees away from the bustle of daily life.
Early applications are recommended for all programmes.
We offer a six-year Solicitor Apprenticeship for school leavers looking for an alternative route to qualification as a solicitor outside of the full-time university route and training contract.
