Trainees have the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of seats, with options depending on which office you are located in. No matter where you are, the options available to you will be in the firm’s core practice areas of business services, dispute resolution, real estate and private individuals. Each seat will last six months, and you’ll receive support from senior staff at every step of the way. The firm’s non hierarchical structure means all senior lawyers and partners are very approachable, and understand that being a trainee involves a learning curve.

The firm is seeking dedicated, diverse candidates with a good academic record and strong commercial awareness. Applicants should be passionate about law, good at working in a team and great at communicating. While Penningtons requires a 2:1 at minimum, they also welcome applications from those who do not meet these requirements.

Trainees complete four six-month seats, and the wide range of seats available means you’ll never get bored. Penningtons Manches Cooper consider charitable giving and pro bono work just as important as their profitable cases, and encourage their employees to give back to their community. The firm is currently supporting over 30 community based organisations, and their lawyers regularly give free legal advice at the Citizens Advice Bureau.
