The AllAboutLaw perspective on Gibson Dunn
A career at Gibson Dunn gives you the chance to work on multi-million pound cases for high profile companies. One trainee even said a case she worked on made front page news only a month after she started her training. The firm has over 1,400 lawyers across 20 offices worldwide, so you’ll get the chance to work with big brands and household names, with many clients listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Gibson Dunn aims to blend English and US law, covering practice areas like corporate, finance and dispute resolution. With up to 15 trainees taken each year, you’ll get the chance to sit alongside associates and partners on high risk cases. Past trainees have gotten involved in cases covering fraud, bribery and money laundering, spanning multiple jurisdictions and with billions of pounds at stake.
The team at Gibson Dunn are keen to ensure that the firm is not just a winning team, but a happy team. The firm has a variety of different groups for marginalised backgrounds for people to share their experiences and receive support from allies and like-minded individuals. Past trainees have praised the “amazing people I get to work with everyday, really smart, hard working and fun colleagues.”
The firm’s multinational approach doesn’t just apply to big deals and big companies, but also to pro bono work. Gibson Dunn provides pro bono advice to numerous clients, with a particular focus on human trafficking. The firm recently took a team of lawyers to present at the United Nations Commission on the status of women, discussing the legal efforts undertaken worldwide to promote women’s rights.
