What the Firm Says

Founded 43 years ago with a commitment to building a different kind of law firm, Crowell & Moring LLP today is a vibrant international law firm representing clients in litigation, regulatory and transactional matters together with a market leading expertise in Government contracting. We are continually recognized for our work representing companies ranging from global enterprises to start-up businesses, and for our ongoing commitment to pro bono service and diversity. With approximately 650 lawyers and 640 professional consultants and support staff based in the United States, London, Brussels, Shanghai and Doha, and consultancy operations in Singapore, our firm is ambitious and growing. Our London office is central to the firm’s strategic plans.

Our London Office

In London, Crowell's innovative and entrepreneurial approach has been central to the firm's growth. Global in nature, our London office provides a full range of services to both local and international clients, offering focused and commercial legal advice.

Our Practices

Our capabilities in London include global litigation, financial services, commercial lending derivatives, energy and infrastructure, competition, dispute resolution and recovery, restructuring and insolvency, M&A, corporate and commercial work, including corporate finance, international trade, international dispute resolution, and arbitration. We represent national and multinational companies and financial institutions clients in the United Kingdom, continental Europe, North and South America, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, and are well-placed to assist our clients in issues arising across the globe. Our partners are well-recognised leaders in their fields, and as a trainee, you will get the chance to work with all of them during your training contract.

Our Culture

Our culture is one of collaboration, inclusion, encouragement and excellence. Moreover, it really is a great place to work, with a team of people who genuinely #enjoylaw and like the people they practice law with. We are a very diverse group (over 55% female in London, for example) and we are extremely keen to not only maintain but to improve this balance. Our commitment to pro bono work is well-recognised, and you’ll be encouraged to get involved right from the start of your career with us. We are one of only very few firms that include pro bono hours in your overall hours target at the firm on qualification.

Academic requirements

Academic excellence is important to us; however, we appreciate that some people face particular challenges during their studies. Whilst we expect applicants to have achieved AAB at A-Level (or equivalent), a 2.1 (Hons) at a well-respected university and to have completed both the GDL (if applicable) and LPC with a merit, if there are good reasons why you haven’t achieved these grades then we are happy to take those into account. Our application allows you to disclose these to us.

In addition to your qualifications, we also value those who have achieved in an extra-curricular context and who are well-rounded and interesting. Personality is a definite plus at our firm! Our clients are a diverse group, and truly appreciate the strong relationships that we build with them, so the ability to use a breadth of your own experiences to relate to people you encounter at work is a fundamental skill for success at our firm.

Finally, you must have already completed the LPC and be able to join us in January 2023.

Diversity interests

At Crowell, we take bold action to keep us moving forward. Accountability, transparency and open communication are the engines of our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Our Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) is dedicated to recruiting, retaining and advancing our women lawyers. Led by counsel and associates and with guidance from partner advisors, WLI provides opportunities for women attorneys to develop meaningful relationships with their peers, mentors and sponsors.
