As a trainee, you’ll attend soft-skills, IT and technical training, allowing you to blossom as a lawyer.

Training contracts at the firm involve four seats, each lasting six months. The firm tries their hardest to ensure that at least one of these is a seat of your choice. Trainees complete seats in the core legal areas of corporate, real estate and contentious, with options such as construction, pensions and dispute resolution. Trainees also get the opportunity to complete a client secondment with one of the firm’s key clients.

Gateley are keen to give back to their community, and work closely with numerous charities. The firm packed gift boxes at Christmas 2019, in partnership with The Buddybag Foundation, which supports children in emergency care. Recently, the firm partnered with SportsAid, and have sponsored ten young athletes, providing them with free travel, accomodation, equipment and personal development opportunities.

The firm is also keen to ensure that everyone in the firm feels included and supported, regardless of their background. Gateley is a disability confident employee, and has a number of diversity networks in place. Recently, the firm implemented mandatory ‘understanding race bias’ training, and joined the Halo Code, an initiative that aims to celebrate all Afro-textured hair.
