The AllAboutLaw perspective on Ashurst

If you’d like to work for a large international law firm, which strives to ensure their employees are as diverse as their clientele, Ashurst is the firm for you. Founded in 1822, Ashurst has grown to become a global law firm, with 29 offices worldwide. Trainees regularly work with clients and lawyers around the world, finalising deals worth billions of pounds. A recent venture involved the firm advising Aristocrat Leisure, a leading global gaming and tech company, on a deal worth £2.1 billion.

Trainees at Ashurst complete four seats, each lasting six months, with opportunities in the firm’s finance, funds and restructuring practice, as well as corporate and contentious seats. There’s even the chance to spend six months away, during a client or international secondment.

Life at Ashurst isn’t just high-profile deals, given the firm’s strong commitment to pro-bono work. The firm has four priority areas for their work: citizenship and global displacement, gender rights and diversity, racial justice and modern slavery. All trainees are greatly encouraged to get involved and give back to their community.

What the firm says

Ashurst is a global law firm that is multicultural in its approach. The firm works across a number of industries, including banks and funds, digital economy, and real estate. As a trainee, you’ll get the chance to advise major banks like Santander and Citigroup, and will support clients with deals worth millions or even billions of pounds.

Trainees are well supported throughout their training contract, receiving specific technical training before each of their seats. This allows them to gain invaluable global experience, as well as the local knowledge needed for a legal career. This professional support, combined with the firm’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensures that you’ll finish your training contract as a confident, well-rounded lawyer.
