Trainees at Travers Smith get the opportunity to work across a range of practice areas, ranging from competition to real estate. They get the unique opportunity to practise these on an international level, collaborating with over 150 firms worldwide to provide bespoke solutions to their clients. This allows them to get to know clients and other law firms around the world.
At Travers Smith, you’ll receive responsibility from day one, and find themselves on the phone to clients and in meetings early on. You’ll receive plenty of support and guidance, sitting with partners and associates and receiving lots of training from experienced lawyers.
Travers Smith are also keen to give back to their community, and have used their influence and legal expertise to help others. The firm recently set up an art programme, which provides support to emerging artists with the transition from student life to professional practice. Travers Smith are also particularly proud of their award-winning pro-bono programme, which provides vulnerable clients with free legal advice and representation. Recent pro bono clients include City YMCA and Refugees at Home.
Trainees are well compensated for their work, with a starting salary of £50,000. Upon qualification, they earn between £90,000 and £110,000. Trainees also receive a discount on a gym membership, language classes, onsite massage services and a subsidised restaurant, to name a few benefits available.
