Freshfields FAQs

Find out the answers to key questions you might have about opportunities at Freshfields.

Are there any opportunities for first year students?

Yes- the firm holds a number of open days as well as a two-day insight scheme just for first year students.

Can I apply if I have a criminal conviction?

Yes. Freshfields have a ‘ban the box’ policy meaning you will only need to disclose any criminal convictions when a conditional job offer is made. You will not have your application withdrawn automatically and all applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

How many trainees does the firm recruit?

The firm recruits 80 trainees across two intakes, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn.

What are the firm’s plans for the SQE?

Freshfields have worked with five other law firms to produce a city solicitors trainee programme for the SQE. This programme will include all training needed for the exam, as well as different preparation tools (skills coaching, diagnostic questions). The firm intake will be in September 2022.

If I have already completed the LPC/GDL, will you reimburse me?

The firm reimburses a portion of the course fees, but this is done on a case-by-case basis and at the firm’s discretion.
