Training Contract

Birketts' training contract applications go live on February 1st and close on June 4th. Applications are open to law and non-law students in their penultimate or final year, and to graduates.

If not yet completed, Birketts provides full sponsorship of the SQE LLM through its chosen provider, the University of Law. This includes sponsorship of the preparation courses and exams. Trainees will be able to complete the course at their preferred campus location. Birketts also provides funding for SQE Law Essentials where applicable as an alternative to the GDL.

As part of the training contract, trainees can expect four seat rotations across the two years. Each trainee will have a dedicated seat supervisor for each rotation and a training principal overseeing the processes. Birketts encourages all trainees to have seats at at least two of its six offices to ensure a complete and well-rounded training experience.

Vacation Scheme

Birketts' vacation scheme applications go live on Monday, November 6th and close on Monday, January 8th. The vacation schemes are open to law students in their penultimate year, to law and non-law students in their final year, and to graduates. Completing a vacation scheme is an ideal opportunity to learn more about Birketts and its industry sectors.

The Birketts vacation scheme enables participants to spend two weeks in one of Birketts' six offices, with three seat rotations across the two weeks. Birketts will pay participants an allowance of £300 per week and pair them up with a current trainee. Participants will experience what Birketts does day-to-day, and have the opportunity to work with partners and associates and contribute to live cases.

The vacation scheme is also a fantastic way for participants to network with colleagues outside of their team and start building relationships across Birketts. Birketts offers a combination of presentations, training and other development opportunities, and organizes a variety of social events too.

It is important to remember that Birketts' vacation schemes are an integral part of its recruitment process for trainees. Birketts regularly makes training contract offers to people in its vacation scheme, in fact around 75% of participants secure a training contract with Birketts.
