Lewis Silkin Application Process
To make a successful application, we are looking for authenticity in your answers - not just what you think they want to hear. The person we want to hear most from is the genuine ‘you’ – we want to learn about your experiences, what you are interested in and passionate about, and what excites you most about a training contract or solicitor apprenticeship with Lewis Silkin.
We are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is accessible to everyone at every stage. Therefore, if you wish to discuss any reasonable adjustments or support needs, at any stage of the process, please let us know by emailing train@lewissilkin.com and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Stage 1 - Application Form (Training Contract)
The application form includes your personal details, education, work experience, and four questions. We're looking to understand two fundamental points - why you want to be a solicitor and why you want to train with Lewis Silkin. You should also make it clear what makes you a strong candidate for the training contract, drawing on your skills and experiences. You may have a word limit to answer these questions. Our top tip is to ensure you read the questions asked of you, and consider how your answer relates to the two points above.
Stage 2 - Initial Assessment Day (Training Contract)
This will take place at our London office, on various dates depending on the office location you apply to. This assessment day consists of a variety of assessments including: one interview with a partner and senior lawyer, a group exercise and a written exercise. You'll also have the opportunity to meet various members of the firm, including a session to get to know some of the current trainees.
Stage 3 - Final Assessment Day (Training Contract)
This will take place in-person at the office location you've applied to. Candidates will attend two partner interviews and complete a case study, during which they will then present their findings to various partners. Candidates will also be required to submit a short video presentation on a topic of their choice ahead of the day.
Stage 1 - Application Form (Solicitor Apprenticeship)
The application form includes your personal details, education, work experience, and three questions. We're looking to understand two fundamental points - why you want to be a solicitor and why you want to do a solicitor apprenticeship with Lewis Silkin. You should view your application as an opportunity to introduce yourself to us, and layout what makes you a strong candidate for our apprenticeship, drawing on your skills and experiences. You may have a word limit to answer these questions. Please read the questions asked of you, and consider how your answer relates to the two points above.
Stage 2 - Virtual Assessment Day (Solicitor Apprenticeship)
Following the application stage, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual assessment day. This is your opportunity to really showcase the skills you highlighted in your application. The day will include a written exercise, a presentation and an interview (your interview will be with a member of HR and an Associate).
Stage 3 - Assessment Day (Solicitor Apprenticeship)
Following the virtual assessment day, shortlisted candidates will be invited to our assessment day at our London office. This will include one partner interview, a written exercise and a case study exercise. You'll also get the opportunity to tour our offices and meet our current apprentices.
The advice "be yourself" can feel a little redundant at assessment days, but this advice really means "try not to let the nerves get the better of you". If you've made it to the final assessment day, that means that a number of people have endorsed your application to attend our assessment day, and are already rooting for you! The assessment day is also as much an opportunity for you to get to know us, as it is for us to meet you. We implore you to ask any questions you have and get to know our firm.
