Can I resit SQE1?

If you are worried about the SQE1 exams, it’s important to remember that you can resit them if you fail. However, there are limits as to how many times you can resit.

How long will it take for me to receive my SQE1 results?

You will receive your results six to ten weeks after sitting the SQE1, with a confirmed date given to you shortly before your assessment date. Once they have been released, you will be notified via email and will be able to see them once you log in to your SQE account.

You will receive: your overall mark as a percentage, whether you passed or failed, the pass mark for the exam, and candidate quintiles, which allow you to compare your performance to everyone else.

What must I do to pass SQE1?

To pass SQE1, you must pass both FLK1 and FLK2. So, if you pass FLK2 but fail FLK1, you will need to resit FLK1. If you fail both FLK1 and FLK2, you will need to resit both. There is no defined pass mark and results depend on the difficulty of the exam and how everyone else did.

I want to re-sit SQE1, what should I do?

You can only resit SQE1 if you failed one or both of the sections. You cannot resit an exam just because you want to score higher. If you fail FLK1 or FLK2, you will pay £899 to retake the section you failed. If you failed both parts, you will pay the original cost, £1,798.

How many times can I resit SQE1?

If you fail any part of the SQE, you will have two further chances to resit them. However, you must pass the entirety of the SQE in six years, with the time limit starting from the day of your first exam. If you fail any part of the SQE three times within these six years, you will have to wait until these six years are up before you can reapply.

If you reapply following the six year period, your progress will be reset and all previous passes will not count. For instance, if you pass FLK2 but fail FLK1 three times, you will have to resit the whole of the SQE1 (including FLK2) once the six years have expired.

Can I appeal my results?

If you believe a mistake was made when calculating your results, you can make an appeal. Further information about the appeals process will be available after the first SQE1 exam session, but in any case you will have to pay £100. If you disagree with the decision made, you can submit another appeal costing £350 and a final appeal costing £850. If an error is found, your fees will be refunded.
