Your law degree counts towards becoming a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer. The CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma (GFTD) is the qualification for law graduates who wish to complete the academic part of the Chartered Legal Executive qualification. You are also eligible if you hold a non-law degree and have studied for a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
The CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma is made up of two Level 6 practice units and one Level 6 professional skills unit in client care skills. One of the practice units must link to a law unit that you have studied as part of your degree. The options available are Civil Litigation, Conveyancing, Criminal Litigation, Employment Practice, Family Practice, Probate Practice and the Practice of Company & Partnership Law.
CILEx Law School delivers these courses by distance learning so that you apply for paralegal work and start working towards CILEx’s requirements for qualifying employment alongside your studies. You can study all three courses concurrently or study them one at a time to fit around work or other commitments.
The courses cost under £2,200 for the three courses but they can be enrolled on and paid for consecutively. There are also CILEx exam and exemption fees and the total cost is less than £3,500.
Students can study from anywhere in the world since this is a distance learning course, but should be aware of the need for qualifying employment in England or Wales if they wish to qualify as Chartered Legal Executives.
Many students work alongside their studies and we would encourage anyone enrolled on the CILEx GFTD to apply for paralegal work that will fulfil CILEx’s work-based learning outcomes whilst studying for theGFTD. Over 60% of our GFTD students are sponsored by their employers to do the course.
