The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) is the conversion course for non-law graduates who want to qualify as either solicitors or barristers. Our GDL will prepare you for practice, polish your performance and boost your prospects.

We offer highly flexible ways to learn, designed to fit around your other commitments: full-time, part-time day, evening and weekend, and our online GDL.

Fees & Funding

Postgraduate funding – our LLM [Law Conversion] also provides the essential training to convert your non-law degree and qualifies for postgraduate funding up to £10,906

Law scholarships – we support the brightest future legal talent, from all backgrounds

Future Finance – you can borrow between £2,500 and £40,000 to pay tuition fees and living expenses for higher education in the UK*

If English is not your first language and you do not hold an honours degree that was delivered in English, you will be required to provide certified proof of ability in written and spoken English to at least IELTS 6.5 (overall) or equivalent with a minimum of 6.0 in each module. 

Non-law (GDL) graduates are often in demand by recruiters as they can offer a diverse range of transferable skills. With our focus on employability, you will receive the best possible preparation to secure a training contract or pupillage.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2:2 honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject from a recognised UK institution

You are guaranteed a place if your honours degree is a 2:1 or above.
