Foot Anstey FAQs

From pro bono to secondment opportunities, we've got the answers to all of your questions about Foot Anstey here.

When do applications open and close?

Applications open from Monday 4 September and close midday on Tuesday 2 January for their Vacation Schemes and midday on Wednesday 31 January for their Training Contract. Please make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute. Take your time and make the best possible application you can.

What can I apply for? Vacation Schemes or Training Contract?

A Vacation Scheme is a great way to experience Foot Anstey, and see the work you could be doing. The schemes include participation in a real training contract assessment centre, giving you the best opportunity to secure a Training Contract in the future. Of course, if you’re ready to apply for a Training Contract, go ahead. Foot Anstey look forward to seeing your application.

What’s involved in the Training Contract application process?

There are three parts to the process – an online application, followed by an online assessment and then an in-person assessment centre at their Bristol office.

Do I need to have completed a Vacation Scheme to secure a training contract at Foot Anstey?

No. Some people do a Vacation Scheme here or at another firm – and it does help people make decisions about the firm they want to train at. But they know a lot of people don’t have that opportunity, and they want to be fair to everyone in their recruitment process.

I have already completed my LPC, can I still apply?

The Firm will only sponsor successful applicants through the SQE. However for those who have self-funded the LPC, Foot Anstey will not require you to take the SQE 2 as a conversion but there may be some opportunities during the training contract that are reserved for those on the SQE route as they focus on slightly different competencies to those needed to tick off the practice skills standards under a Period of Recognised Training.

Where would I be based? Can I choose?

During your onboarding process, Foot Anstey ask you to select a base office between Bristol, Exeter or Southampton. The Firm's Trainees work across all three locations (and occasionally others) depending on the location of their seat. The Firm don't require individuals to relocate for each of their seats but provide support for trainees so they can spend a reasonable time in the office with their supervisor.

How many trainees do you retain at the end of the contract?

Foot Anstey have a very high retention rate as they want everyone who starts with us to go on and enjoy a career with Foot Anstey.
