Pro bono Initiatives

Milbank was one of the first law firms to appoint a partner to head up its pro bono practice (1993). Milbank requires every partner, counsel, associate and trainee to dedicate a minimum of 25 pro bono hours annually.

Pro bono participation in Milbank’s London office has expanded significantly in recent years. In 2025, Milbank’s London office recorded nearly 5,000 hours of pro bono work, with lawyers contributing an average of 20 hours.

Milbank’s London office works closely with legal pro bono programs including Advocates for International Development (A4ID), TrustLaw and LawWorks. Other partnerships include Amicus ALJ, which fights for those facing a death sentence in the United States.
