Training Contract

Withers offers 13 training contract positions every year and is currently recruiting for September 2026. The two-year training contract consists of four seats of six months' duration.

Each trainee is assigned a seat supervisor who will provide training, monitor performance and offer feedback. The vast majority of trainees stay with the firm after qualification and a third of current partners trained at Withers. The variety of seat choices available to trainees sets Withers apart from other firms; there are very few firms that can offer, on the one hand, private client and family experience and, on the other, banking, commercial, charities, IP, commercial property, commercial litigation, reputation management and more.

Vacation Scheme

The best way to get a feel for the firm and the type of work we do is to come and work with us for a fortnight on one of our vacation schemes. We offer three, two-week work placements in our London office.

We are proud of our vacation schemes as they offer a real insight into what it is like to work for a City law firm and most importantly you will gain first-hand experience of what it is like to work for Withers by experiencing some of our core practice areas - something which is difficult to glean from a website.

Candidates on the vacation scheme receive £450 per week and benefit from free meals and snacks in the firm's café.

Solicitor Apprenticeships

Our Solicitor Apprenticeships are open to candidates who do not already have a degree or who haven't already completed an apprenticeship up to level 7 standard or equivalent. We look for ABB A- level grades (or equivalent) and 8 GCSE's at A* - C including English Language and Maths.

Throughout the six-year programme solicitor apprentices will take exams and assessments to meet the requirements of the LLB degree in Legal Practice and Solicitors Regulation Authority's. (SRA) centralised assessments. The apprenticeship includes one day per week allocated to study at BPP University, all university fees are funded by the firm.

Applications for our Solicitor Apprenticeships have now closed.
