The AllAboutLaw perspective on Addleshaw Goddard

As a trainee at Addleshaw Goddard, you’ll be working at a firm with a high quality, loyal client base. Addleshaw Goddard’s clients include over 48 FTSE 100 companies, providing expert advice to household names such as HSBC and GlaxoSmithKline. Recently, the firm advised Asda on the £2.3bn buyout of EG Group's UK and Ireland Business.

During your training contract, you’ll complete four seats, with opportunities for a client or international secondment. Trainees start working on important cases from day one, dealing with expensive, high-stakes cases. You’ll receive plenty of support at every step of the way, with mentoring, a buddy scheme and internal and external training.

When you’re not working on deals worth billions of pounds, you’ll often find yourself working on a pro bono initiative. Addleshaw Goddard works on a wide range of pro bono projects, ranging from collaborative matters supporting climate change to stand alone matters supporting non-profit organisations. The firm also works to give back to their local communities, by providing pro-bono advice at legal advice centres across the country.

Addleshaw Goddard are taking steps to ensure that no one faces barriers to becoming a lawyer. The firm has partnered with Rare, an external organisation, to introduce contextual recruitment into the application process. This ensures that students who have performed well despite adversity can be identified. To further ensure the equality of the application process, the firm has removed their minimum A-level requirements and increased training for those involved in recruitment.
