Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Macfarlanes
Although Macfarlanes may not have offices all over the world, its supportive culture more than makes up for it. You’ll work alongside partners from day one, and the firm actively encourages you to network with everyone. They even host dinners to allow you to meet associates from different teams. You’ll quickly get to know everyone in the firm, and will flourish with such a large support network.
The firm’s size doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on working on high-stakes deals, with the firm boasting Superdry and Virgin as just two of its high-profile clients. The small size even means that you’ll work closer with clients than you would do at larger firms, and will enjoy the satisfaction you feel after listening to and resolving client concerns.
