Aspiring lawyers will be able to get their teeth into more pro bono opportunities, a report has found.

Pro bono work is a great way for students to boost their CV ahead of vacation scheme and training contract applications as well as carrying out essential legal work for clients who may not be able to afford or access a lawyer.

The LawWorks LawSchool Pro Bono and Clinic Report 2014 revealed that 85% of law schools are planning to expand their pro bono offering. As a result, up to 10,000 students across the UK are set to be involved with pro bono in the near future! Woo-hoo!

86% of law schools also believe that there will be an increase in demand from client, with the cuts in Legal Aid cited as the main reason for this.

Students who carry out pro bono work provide generalist or specialist legal advice, can undertake a placement with an external organisation or be part of the Innocence Project or a Streetlaw offering. Recently, Cardiff University students participating in an Innocence Project overturned a murder conviction
