The University of Surrey’s Law School certainly have something to be proud of as one of their associate lecturers, Luke Mason, has been named as Law Teacher of the Year 2014.
The national teaching award, sponsored by Oxford University Press, was presented to Mr Mason in recognition of his outstanding legal teaching skills.
There was a tough field of nominees for the award consisting of lecturers from universities across the country. The selection process lasted several months and the panel’s decision was based on various campus visits, observations, filming and student feedback.
Mr Mason’s teaching interests lie primarily in jurisprudence, EU, property and labour law.
On winning the award, Mr Mason said: "There is something about acquiring legal learning that is a privilege. As a teacher you then have the additional privilege to communicate that knowledge. I am so grateful for this award's existence, for drawing attention to the fantastic and valuable thing it is to be a law teacher."
Congratulations to Mr Mason – and to the lucky students who are part of his tutor groups!
