Two international law firms, Hogan Lovells and Norton Rose Fulbright, have announced their retention rates for autumn 2014. This comes after widespread trainee retention rates were found to be high.

Hogan Lovells have retained 77% if their qualifiers, employing 27 of 35 trainees. 32 applied for a position with the firm. The rate improves on their performance last autumn, where Hogan Lovells kept on 76% of their trainees, some 25 of 33.

The firm will send 12 newly qualified lawyers to its arbitration, litigation and employment teams. Ten will join the corporate team with three joining finance. The remaining two will join the competition team.

Norton Rose Fulbright announced that it would also retain 77% of their trainee cohort, with 17 of 22 qualifiers joining the firm. The firm have maintained their 100% acceptance rate. The firm did not specify which teams the newly qualified lawyers would be joining.

Michael Black, training principal, Norton Rose Fulbright, said, “We are pleased to announce that 17 of the 22 trainees qualifying in September will be joining the practice.  We have also been able to maintain our 100% acceptance rate.”
