The future is here guys, it’s happening right now! Germany is set to create laws surrounding the use of driverless cars on the country’s roads.
The law at the moment (according to the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic) does not allow robotic cars on roads. But now, the transport minister is working out who should be made responsible when a computer fails, how the car is to be insured and how licences should be regulated.
Laws in the US, and Nevada specifically, mention that the ‘operator’ doesn’t need to pay attention when the car is driving itself. However, the regulations require one person to be behind the wheel, and one person to be in the passenger seat.
Robotic cars are expected to be made available to the public in 2020. Fancy a spin? Audi’s RS7 goes up to 150mph. It’d sure make getting around a lot quicker.
