Solicitors and barristers will conduct another protest against Lord Grayling’s proposed legal aid cuts on 7 March.
As reported in the Law Society Gazette, local law society members, BAME groups, the Criminal Law Lawyer’s Association and the Legal Aid Practitioners’ Group gathered yesterday at a meeting with Lord Grayling hosted by the Law Society to discuss concerns. The March protest is a response to what they see as a lack of a ‘positive’ response from Grayling following the first protest in January.
Chair of the Criminal Bar Association Nigel Lithman QC said: "The purpose of any action must be to show the government the depth of the resolve among the legal profession to speak as one voice. We must show them the value of what they are so willing to destroy."
