Phil Mitchell’s employer has launched a training contract! Nope, not The Queen Victoria pub, the BBC!
Beginning in 2015, applications for an in-house training contract with the BBC open in March. The format of the scheme is similar to those at a traditional law firm, with trainees undertaking four seats over the course of two years.
One seat will be in the BBC legal division, focusing on IP law. There will be a commercial seat will be with BBC worldwide, with a third seat with the rights, legal and business affairs team. The final seat will take place with one of the BBC’s panel law firms.
Unfortunately, the Beeb are looking for students who have already completed the LPC and won’t be refunding any course fees. Alison Neil, learning and development manager for BBC Legal, said, “We will be looking for those candidates who can show at interview why they are interested in training in-house rather than at any private practice law firm, and who understand what a legal in-house career is about.”
”We also want people who can demonstrate why they want to work for the BBC, and BBC Legal specifically”.
