“Absolutely none”, cries the aspiring solicitor, currently on the hunt for a training contract!
As desirable as a career as a lawyer may be, it’s actually only the fourth most desirable career in the UK. 43% of respondents said they would like to be a lawyer, but 60% said they’d like to be an author, 54% would like to try their hand at being a librarian and 51% want to don a tweed blazer with beige chinos and be an academic.
The YouGov survey should perhaps be taken with a pinch of sale though. 35% of respondents said they would like to be a train driver, pressing stop and go through the dark and dingy London underground tunnels, greeting a splash of light just every five minutes (depending on how many red signals they encounter). However, just 29% of people want to be a Formula One driver – travelling the world to exotic locations such as Sao Paulo, Abu Dhabi and Australia, getting paid millions every year and racing around in extremely fast cars.
When you put it like that, I guess we’d choose to be a train driver too…
