Nuclear Weapons: Trump administration to develop “more useable warheads”

The Trump administration has plans for constraints to be loosened on nuclear weapons, as well as plans to devise a new low-yield nuclear warhead which will be “smaller” and “more useable”.
While the Obama administration sought to reduce the role of nuclear weapons in US defence strategies, this latest development indicates that Trump is placing heavy weight on the importance of nuclear weapons.
Plans to develop new nuclear weapons and alter existing ones go against the current international stance on nuclear weapons, which indicates that any war action that could cause mass destruction to civilians is a breach of international law. The quest to make weapons “more useable” sends a strong message to potential adversaries - one that not all commentators believe is a good idea.
