Sustainability at Burges Salmon

Sustainability and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) are core to Burges Salmon's ethos and their long-standing commitment to being a responsible business. The Firm have strong ESG credentials as: signatories to the UN Global Compact, members of the charity Business in the Community, and having achieved various ISO certifications and other accreditations.

Burges Salmon have been independently assessed by EcoVadis, a company that assesses organisation’s sustainability efforts, and achieved their Gold Sustainability Standard for ranking in the top 5% of participant organisations. 

The firm has made a public commitment to becoming Net Zero by 2026, and has a number of initiatives in place to meet this goal. They offset their carbon emissions with Trees for Life, a Scottish tree planting company, and are working towards using 100% renewable electricity in all their offices. Burges Salmon’s commitment to ESG is even reflected with their legal expertise. The firm was a founding member of the Net Zero Legal Alliance, and they also participate in the Chancery Lane Project, a pro bono initiative to develop new laws tackling climate change.
