How to prepare for the Virtual Law Fair
Before the Virtual Law Fair begins on Monday 26th October 2020, you will need to prepare. There are a number of steps every aspiring solicitor must go through before they attend the Virtual Law Fair.
1. Familiarise yourself with the platform
AllAboutLaw will have emailed you detailed information about the Virtual Law Fair platform so please make sure you read this thoroughly before attending the Virtual Law Fair. Please make sure to check your spam folder too if you have not received an email.
2. Research the law firms who are exhibiting
Use our handy tool to research the law firms that are right for you. You will have to use your time efficiently during the Virtual Law Fair to engage with the firms that you would most like to secure a training contract with.
Think about how your academic achievements line up with firms’ requirements, where in the country you would like to work, and how much you expect to be paid as a trainee solicitor.
3. Organise one-to-one meetings
Once you have used our tool and know the firms that are a good fit for you, make a note of them. You can then use the Virtual Law Fair platform to scheduled one-to-one meetings with members of the graduate recruitment team or trainee solicitors at your favoured firms.
Ahead of these meetings, you need to think about what you want to find out or speak about with the firm. This should be information you cannot find on a website, social media or in a firm’s digital brochure. This is your chance to impress, so make sure that you ask intelligent questions.
4. Register for talks & workshops
There is a wealth of content at the Virtual Law Fair. Make sure you take time to check out the agenda for each day and register for the talks and workshops that interest you the most in advance. You can simply click the 'Reserve Spot' button to make sure you don't miss out.
