Goodwin’s two-year Trainee Solicitor Programme is designed to support a seamless transition from talented student to professional lawyer. Trainees complete four six-month seats across the firm’s practice and industry groups.

Trainees contribute to client matters from the outset. Each trainee is supported by an associate supervisor and a partner supervisor, alongside the Early Careers team, buddies and mentors.

The programme includes a comprehensive induction, department-specific and firmwide training, ongoing professional development and structured feedback throughout each seat.

What is on offer?

First year salary of £55,000, rising to £60,000 in the second year. Goodwin sponsors the PGDL where applicable and the LLM SQE 1 and 2 course, with maintenance grants of £12,000 for the PGDL year and £18,000 for the SQE LLM year. Future trainees also receive a £1,000 technology allowance.

Trainees have access to Goodwin’s benefits package.

 Application process

Applications are reviewed after the closing date. Candidates who progress will be invited to complete an asynchronous video interview. If successful through that stage, candidates will progress to an in-person assessment centre. Successful candidates will then have a second stage assessment and interview.
