Sir Keir Starmer has announced his resignation as Prime Minister (PM) and leader of the Labour Party, plunging the British government into yet another sudden transition, just two years after the last general election. 

This resignation makes Starmer the sixth UK PM since the 2016 Brexit vote. As it stands, Andy Burnham is the pundits’ favourite to take over, and corporate boardrooms are preparing for a new regime to come in with him.
