With a three-week programme running in the summer, our vacation schemes are the perfect way to take the first steps into your journey as a lawyer.
You'll be treated like one of the team and experience the recognition and support you'll get as a Hogan Lovells Cadwalader trainee — getting involved in major client projects across a range of practices and jurisdictions. We'll give you an authentic, challenging and rewarding experience, so you can get a real taste of your career ahead.
At the end of the scheme, having experienced exactly what it's like to work as part of our team, advise our clients and develop skills on real projects — you'll have an automatic interview to earn a training contract with us.
Scheme dates
Scheme runs 21 June – 9 July 2027
Eligibility
- Penultimate year onwards
- Law and non-law

How to apply
At the initial application stage, candidates submit an online application form and provide details of academic attainment, work experience as well as answering two questions. Eligible candidates are then invited to complete an online immersive assessment, where they will undertake a critical reasoning test, a proofreading test, and a behavioural skills assessment. Candidates who successfully pass this stage will then complete a job simulation assessment, which consists of behavioural skills questions and a series of written and video interview questions.
Following this, the Early Careers Team will review the applications and shortlist successful candidates for the next stage.
Successful training contract and vacation scheme applicants will complete an in-person Assessment Centre. This consists of a group exercise, a scenario-based interview, and a case study and career-focused interview.
Candidates can find out more about our recruitment process and access practice tests on our candidate preparation hub.
Diversity and inclusion
We are committed to inclusive recruitment and workplace accessibility, offering adjustments for candidates and support for employees through our workplace adjustments pathway. If you have not yet made your application, please ensure you detail your request for reasonable adjustments on your application form. If you have already applied and wish to discuss your request for reasonable adjustments, please contact the Hogan Lovells Cadwalader Early Careers Recruitment team.
