Squire Patton Boggs strengthens US arm

International law firm Squire Patton Boggs has agreed to combine with a California-based global litigation management practice, strengthening the firm’s position in both the US and Germany.  

Carroll, Burdick & McDonough have agreed to combine with the multinational firm, and in doing so, will take on the Squire Patton Boggs name. The Californian firm have offices in Los Angeles, but also near Stuttgart, which Squire Patton Boggs have stated will “combined firm a significant presence in the centre of Germany’s industrial powerhouse of Baden-Württemberg”.

They also have an office in Hong Kong, which will solidify Squire Patton Boggs’ reach in the Far East, and with over 50 lawyers working for the company, who together speak more than 16 languages, including Mandarin, Latvian and Russian, it appears to be a savvy move for a firm with more than 45 offices worldwide, across 21 countries.

Squire Patton Boggs global chair Mark Ruehlmann said: “In an increasingly regulated and interdependent global economy, our clients rely upon us now more than ever for compliance solutions across virtually all industries.”

With a significant litigation management practice now within the ranks, and with more than 20% of the lawyers acquired having a legal education in two or more countries, the Squire Patton Boggs name has acquired skills and industry knowledge that appears to be perfectky suited to their multinational approach.
