Slaughter and May Increase Trainee Salary

Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May is increasing their salaries for trainees.
If you manage to land a training contract with the firm you’ll enjoy a starting salary of £41,000. Once the first year of your training contract is done and dusted, you’ll start receiving a salary of £46,000. Oh yeah!
The best is yet to come, however. As a newly qualified solicitor, you’ll receive a salary of £70,000. This represents an increase £5,000. Those with one year of post-qualified experience (PQE) will receive £75,500; solicitors with two years’ of PQE will receive a whopping £87,000. This means that if you started your law degree at the age of 18, you could be earning just shy of £90,000 by the time you’re 27 or 28. Wonga!
With three years of PQE, you’ll earn £96,500. Not. Too. Bad.
Just to bring you back down to earth, a salary of £96,500 means you pay somewhere in the region of £600 a month back on your student loan - and that doesn't include your GDL or LPC repayments. Every silver lining has a cloud, guys!
