The Bar Standards Board (BSB) has introduced a new application system for students intending to study the BPTC (Bar Professional Training Course).

- 20 November 2014 - system opens for September 2015

- 12 January 2015 - closing date for first applications

- 16 March 2015 – first round offers released

- 8 April 2015 - acceptance deadline for first round offers

- 15 April 2015 - clearing applications and unsuccessful first round applications released to providers

- 1 September 2015 - clearing closes

- 11 September 2015 - system closes

All BPTC applicants must also have a 2:2 from their law degree or a 2:2 in a non-law degree and have passed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). They must also be fluent in English, have passed the Bar Course Aptitude Test (BCAT) and must be a member of an Inn of Court
