A lawyer who dressed up as ‘something out of Harry Potter’ in court, is being investigated by the solicitors’ watchdog.

Alan Blacker’s 20-page CV was reportedly filled with hundreds of claims which failed to stand up to scrutiny. Blacker’s CV, which has been deleted from LinkedIn, described him as “Dr. The Rt. Hon. The Lord Harley of Counsel KGCStJ. DPhil.” According to Wales on Sunday the title of “Harley” does not appear on the roll of peerage at the College of Arms.

The Zoological Society of London were confused by Blacker’s claim that he was a trustee. Similarly, the CV also noted that Blacker was a “Branch Secretary Honorary Colonel 24 Batt. (Irish) and 1st Btn” at the Royal Artillery Association in 2000. However, the institution said, “We don’t have him on our database.”

The Solicitors Regulation Authority said, “We are aware of the matter, and indeed had already noted the content of Dr Blacker’s website. We will be looking at all the necessary information, and are in contact with other concerned agencies, before deciding the appropriate action.”

The SRA’s code of conduct requires a solicitor’s public CV to be “accurate and not misleading, and not likely to diminish the trust the public places in you”.
