Diversity at Kennedys Law LLP

Kennedys is an incredibly diverse law firm, with thousands of people located across more than 20 countries. At Kennedys, people come from all over the world and from all walks of life, and it's these diverse perspectives and experiences which make Kennedys such a great law firm.

Kennedys are passionate about diversity and inclusion, as they believe such initiatives attract the best talent and ensure their people are working at their best. The firm is committed to increasing representation of underrepresented groups at all levels. In 2020, the firm achieved their goal of having 30% female partners, and are aiming to reach 40% female partners by 2030. In the same year, Kennedys pledged to focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, most specifically: 3) Good health and wellbeing, 4) Quality education and 10) Reduced inequalities.

To work on these goals, Kennedys introduced a number of programmes and initiatives. Also in 2020, the firm launched their Let’s start the conversation series, designed to educate their people and raise awareness on topics such as Mental Health and LGBTQ+ Inclusion. This initiative provides a space for Guest speakers to share their personal experiences, with space for individuals to ask questions.

Furthermore, Kennedys are passionate about breaking down barriers to law, and widening access to the profession. They were the first law firm in the UK to set up an apprentice scheme, offering an alternative route to university. The firm also uses RARE recruitment in their application screening process, to ensure socially mobile candidates can have their achievements recognised. Kennedys also partner with a range of external organisations working to improve diversity, such as Aspiring Solicitors and UpReach.
