SQE Starter Course

The SQE Starter Course (online) would suit candidates with solid foundations in several but not all the core areas of law covered in an English LLB or law conversion course, as it introduces the academic law subjects of Functioning Legal Knowledge (FLK) that are covered in SQE1. This self-study, online course provides you with the foundations of law to help you develop your knowledge and understanding of core legal principles required for the SQE.

The course covers the following academic law subjects:

  • The Legal System and Public Law 1 (FLK1)
  • Public Law 2 (FLK1)
  • Contract Law (FLK1)
  • Tort Law (FLK1)
  • Land Law (FLK2)
  • Trusts Law (FLK2)
  • Criminal Law (FLK2)

If you’re a non-law graduate with little or no background in law and you’re looking for a more comprehensive course that will put you on a level playing field with LLB graduates and prepare you for the SQE1, we would recommend our LLM Law Conversion with SQE1.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for our SQE Starter Course, however there is an expectation that students will have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree (or overseas equivalent)

This course is most suitable for those with qualification as a lawyer in another jurisdiction or as a barrister in England and Wales looking to cross qualify but if you have studied law before and have extensive practice experience as a paralegal you may be suitable for this course.
