Scratch the surface of Simmons & Simmons and you’ll discover a leading law firm of over 1,600 colleagues, offering expert legal advice across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. We operate across four key sectors and through a range of services to help clients navigate all kinds of legal challenges, from buying and selling national chain stores to patenting the latest technology. We work in the areas that matter the most to everyone’s future, from Life Sciences to Technology, Media and Telecommunications. So whatever you do, wherever you go, you’ll see developments we’ve been involved in. All you need to do is look, and you’ll uncover the world of law.
Our training contracts are offered in both London and Bristol, and either way, you’ll spend two years discovering the innovation we’re known for. As well as moving through four six-month seats across our sectors, you’ll also benefit from the Compass programme; our unique and progressive trainee skills academy that offers a combination of practical learning, mentoring and online tools. Our teams will teach you everything they know about the world of law, and you’ll find your niche in the process, qualifying into your choice of practice area.
Ideally placed to build a long-term career, our trainees in Bristol uncover a world of high-end clients and gain immediate exposure to complex challenges. Over four six-month seats, with the possibility of client or international secondment, you’ll build an impressive legal career that comes with one of the most competitive starting salaries in the market. What’s more, you’ll do it all within the city that topped the Sunday Times Best Place to Live Guide 2017. Integrated with our wider UK team, you’ll spend a year studying the LPC alongside our London intake at BPP in London, before returning to Bristol to start your training contract.
We’re looking for perceptive, ambitious future lawyers. You see the finer detail - the intricate legal framework that powers and shapes our everyday - and you’ve got the drive to be part of it. We are looking for students who are on course for at least a 2:1 in any degree subject. That said, academic performance isn’t everything: that’s why we look for raw talent and potential throughout our assessment process.
Please note that we fill all of our roles on a first come first served basis, we therefore advise you to apply as soon as possible and put your very best into it.
Applications open 01 December 2017 for our September 2020 Training Contracts.
