Burges Salmon runs four two-week summer vacation schemes each year.
You will have the opportunity to sit in two different departments, supervised by a qualified solicitor and undertake tasks such as drafting, research and letter-writing. There is a definite emphasis on 'real' work with opportunities to attend court hearings and client meetings. In addition to this, we run skills sessions in negotiation, client interviewing and marketing and partners and senior solicitors give practice area talks over breakfast each week.
Trainee solicitors organise a programme of sports and social events to give an all-round view of life as a lawyer at Burges Salmon.
All candidates are offered a training contract interview at the end of the two week scheme which is conducted by a recruitment partner and a member of the HR team.
Vacation Scheme Assessment Centres
The assessment day includes a group exercise, a psychometric test and a brief interview with one of the recruitment partners. There are also talks from lawyers on their practice areas, presentations by current trainees, lunch and a tour of our office to give candidates a chance to get to know us as well.
