Ashfords Training Contract
Ashfords is a national provider of legal, professional and regulatory services. We combine legal expertise, commercial experience and our wider network to help our clients achieve their goals, providing value for time and value for money.
Our recruitment process tests for the fundamental skills that all good lawyers should have. But we're looking for that little bit more - it’s our people who sell our firm, so we want to recruit trainees with rounded personalities, and who demonstrate our values.
We offer training contracts based in our South West or Bristol offices and you can expect to spend six months in each seat. We have regular discussions with our trainees in order to understand their ambitions and interests. We are committed to provide the most valuable experience at the start of your legal career.
During your training contract you will have the opportunity to experience four areas of law, spending six months immersing yourself in the work of each of those departments.
As an Ashfords Trainee Solicitor you can expect to attend meetings with a range of clients and become involved in real cases. You’ll complete your PSC during your training contract which helps to contextualise what you are learning on the job. You will be mentored by lawyers across the firm who will expose you to the best quality work, supporting you to achieve your legal potential. Aside from working, you will build relationships with other likeminded trainees who are eager to engage in social activities, ranging from the annual ball, to sports clubs and charity events.
Trainee Solicitor (assessment centre)
If you would prefer not to complete a summer scheme, you also have the option to attend an assessment centre only for our 2022 training contracts. The application form provides us with basic information about your qualifications and work experience. You will also be asked some questions to elaborate on your skills and experience. All of this information will help us decide if you could be a Ashfords trainee.
Throughout this process, we are looking for you to demonstrate a number of key skills, including excellent commercial awareness, an adaptable and flexible attitude, good communication skills, creative thinking and the ability to plan and organise.
We recruit two years in advance so in order to apply for an Ashfords training contract you must be in your penultimate year of your law degree or final year of your non-law degree.
Deadline for summer scheme and training contract applications: 30 April 2020
