Clifford Chance – where curious minds meet

Are you someone who delves into minute details? Do you ask ‘too many’ questions? Have you ever been told that you ‘think too much’?

At Clifford Chance, that makes you one of us. We’re a world-leading law firm, because we’ve never stopped being curious

That’s why infamous local and global names come to us for expert advice on all aspects of commercial law. We have an unrivalled scale and depth of legal resources across five continents and seven practice areas. Plenty to keep your curiosity fed.

What’s SPARK?

SPARK is an award-winning and unique programme that could give you an unparalleled introduction to the world of commercial law. You’ll learn from our expert mentors in the classroom and on the job too. You may even secure a Training Contract by the end of your first year of university (or second year if you are on a four-year degree).

Experience and skills

You don’t need prior legal experience or a Law degree to apply. As our SPARK Scheme may lead to a Training Contract, we’ll expect you to be a problem-solver with strong communication skills and commercial acumen. You should have:

  • Business awareness

  • Leading and managing skills

  • Ability to problem-solve with commercial insight

  • Relationship building and networking skills

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to identify legal vs business issues

You will be in your first year of study, or your second year if you are completing a four-year degree.

If you are a Law student then you should be able to start a Training Contract in 2024, and if you are a non-Law student then you should be able to start in 2025. The details for the Training Contract are:
