For Business Legal Services our typical clients are drawn from a cross-section of growing businesses to large companies, and come from a range of sectors including technology, consumer, financial services, manufacturing, media and entertainment, real estate, and education. The firm offers expertise in banking and finance, commercial litigation, corporate, commercial, employment, insolvency and real estate.
Within the Personal Legal Services we cover all the key injury areas such as asbestos-related disease, serious injury, international travel litigation, medical negligence and product liability. In addition to Personal Injury, Private Wealth offers a wide range of services for private clients including succession planning, tax, reputation protection, family, and probate administration. It also advises business owners and executives on their personal business wealth.
Our training contracts:
We offer training contracts at 11 of our offices across the UK. Trainees choose between either Business Legal Services (BLS) or Personal Legal Services (PLS). Within BLS, seat rotations include areas such as corporate, real estate, litigation and tax. PLS offers both personal injury seats including serious injury, medical negligence and court of protection, but also private wealth seats such as wills, trust and estate disputes, and family law.
Trainees will complete four training seats over two years, interacting with partners and senior associates.
The trainee solicitor role develops skills that candidates will use as qualified solicitors.
The key skills include:
Advocacy and oral presentation
Case and transaction management
Establishing and maintaining professional relationships
Interviewing and advising
Ethics, professionalism and judgement
Managing themselves and their own work
During the two year period the trainee will be supervised and given opportunity to develop and experience these skills.
