Osborne Clarke is an award-winning multinational legal practice. We’ve grown rapidly, with 26 global offices and we’re proud to say that our influence and impact can be applied almost anywhere. The core sectors we work in all thrive on innovation; digital business, energy, financial services, life sciences, real estate, recruitment and transport. Our sector teams include lawyers from all legal disciplines, effortlessly blending expertise, insight and enthusiasm. Crucially, we think sector-first, organising ourselves around the current affairs and future challenges of the industries we serve, rather than traditional legal practice areas. It helps keep us one step ahead.
Like any private practice, legal expertise is at the heart of everything we do. But what makes us distinctive? For a start, you can expect to get involved in truly fascinating work. The variety of our deals and the diversity of our clients provide an exciting and immersive commercial framework. This is a firm where fresh ideas (and the confidence and conviction to see them through) are highly prized, and we’re never afraid to take a view. It is also firm with a coherent commercial vision, with a clear direction, supported by a compelling sense of purpose and identity. Put simply, we’re going places. And you can put our positive, can-do attitude down to sustained success, in terms of both profile and performance. Finally, there’s our culture. When we asked our recent recruits what attracted them to us, they used words like ‘friendly’, ‘inclusive’, ‘open’ and ‘fun’. To our clients we are ‘approachable’, ‘proactive’, ‘understanding’ and ‘formidable’.
Our Vacation Scheme
Each of our vacation scheme placements runs for two weeks over the summer and is the ideal way for you to really get to know the firm. The placement follows a structured programme which allows you to spend time in two different departments. You'll get stuck into real work, with all the support you need from experienced supervisors and trainee buddies. We organise formal insight sessions with partners and lawyers from across the firm, as well as skills sessions to help you improve your understanding of law as a business. Beyond work there are plenty of informal social events organised by our trainees.
We're looking for the skills and qualities that make a great OC lawyer. The ability to listen and learn, a passion to help clients, an interest in the business environment, a team-working ethos, a problem-solving approach, a sense of humour and a knowledge about OC. Candidates should have achieved, or are expecting to achieve, a 1st or a 2:1 in any discipline. We take applicants’ results in each of their degree modules into account and screen applications in favour of those with stronger ‘A’ level grades. If you’re changing career, we’ll look for evidence of achievement in your previous role.
To apply, please visit joinoc.com. The application form will open on 1 October 2019 and close on 15 January 2020.
