The LLM at Manchester Law School provides the opportunity for you to extend your knowledge of the law and develop advanced legal research skills. You will gain an internationally recognised postgraduate legal qualification, which will boost your existing skills and experience in a competitive jobs market.
During the course, you will develop and in-depth understanding of the law, how it is formed and applied and its relationship with policy and policy-making processes at national, European and international levels.
The course will provide you with the flexibility to tailor your study to meet your own professional or academic goals. You will specialise in a specific area of the law that interests you, whilst developing advanced critical, analytical and evaluative skills.

Expert researchers and teaching staff
The teaching team at Manchester Law School consists of over 80 academic specialists and practising legal professionals with strong working links to the Northern Circuit.
The LLM teaching team have close links with civic society, think tanks, European institutions and policy-makers. They are recognised researchers who have been important in developing new research in areas such as equality law, medical ethics, human rights, free movement law and discrimination law.
Manchester Law School students benefit from excellent facilities, including legal libraries, IT zones and a mock courtroom. You will have access to an award-winning Faculty building with dedicated postgraduate study areas and a careers hub.

LLM graduates will receive an internationally recognised legal qualification and generally go on to establish successful careers in the legal (or closely related) profession.
This qualification is an excellent basis for entering a career in public administration, the civil service, the voluntary and community sectors, teaching or academia as well as the legal profession. Many graduates also go on to complete further research at PhD level.
During your studies, you will also have access to the Faculty of Business and Careers and Employability Service. This will continue for up to three years after you graduate. There is a range of careers support services on offer including networking cafes and guest speakers.
