Lester Aldridge is a regional law firm based in Bournemouth (two locations) and offices in London and Southampton. The firm employs around 250 people including 39 partners and fee earners and is a member of MSI—an international network of lawyers and accountants—through which the firm is able to secure easy access to qualified professionals working in other jurisdictions across the world
The training contract begins with a full-fledged induction programme, which covers an introduction to the firm, its work, values and vision, as well as the mundane but important details of billing, administrative, systems and resources, and general office policies.
The remaining part of the training contract is split over four seats of six months’ duration; trainees are assigned to practice-specific specialist teams, where they are expected to actively integrate and participate in ongoing work, with support and guidance from other team members.
Trainee preferences for the next seat are discussed halfway through the current seat with the Training Principal, who also meets with trainees on a monthly basis to review performance. A formal appraisal is conducted at the end of each seat by the team head/leader and every quarter, trainees also have an exclusive meeting with the Managing Partner of the firm.
Two summer vacation placement schemes are conducted in July and August, each for a period of two weeks. Each batch has an intake of four interns and the duration of the placement is spent working in one department, allocated on the basis of availability and intern preferences.
The programme is open to candidates looking for a training contract with Lester Aldridge in two years’ time.
Lester Aldridge do not currently offer an apprenticeship scheme.
