The bar magic circle has five members. These are:
Established in the 1950s, Blackstone Chambers broke into the magic circle in 2011. Barristers there specialise in commercial, public and employment law. There are currently 93 barristers at Blackstone Chambers, all of whom are self-employed and in independent practice.
Blackstone has been described as “the crème de la crème; it has brilliant people at all levels.”
Brick Court Chambers
Brick Court Chambers specialises in commercial, EU/Competition and public law and was awarded ‘Chambers of the Year’ in 2012. There are 85 members and 37 QCs who practice full-time. Members are independent and self-employed but prides itself on excellence in advocacy and advisory work.
Essex Court Chambers
Essex Court Chambers (not to be confused with One Essex Court), specialise in commercial, international and European law. As with other bar magic circle members, they’re barristers are self-employed.
Fountain Court Chambers
Fountain Court became prominent under the leadership of Sir Melford Stevenson in the 1950s and in the subsequent decades of the 1960s and 1970s their members were widely regarded as leading advocates.
One Essex Court
One Essex Court was founded in 1966 and specialises in commercial litigation. In 2012, One Essex Court opened a new international office in Singapore.
