When do applications open for training contracts?
Applications tend to open in April. For recruitment a year in advance, applications close at the end of May. If you are applying two years in advance, applications tend to close at the end of June.
What are Fieldfisher’s plans with the SQE?
Fieldfisher are considering their options carefully, and will release more information as the exams get underway.
Can I still apply if I don’t meet the grade requirements?
Fieldfisher recognises the fact that there are other ways to decide if someone is a good fit for the firm. They advise applicants to discuss their academic background with the graduate team before they apply if they have mitigating circumstances.
Who is Fieldfisher’s preferred law school?
Fieldfisher prefers their trainees to study at the University of Law. In return, the firm covers the cost of course fees and provides a £5,500 grant for the GDL, as well as a £6,000 grant for the LPC.
Are there opportunities for pro bono work?
Yes! Fieldfisher have doubled the number of pro bono programmes in the last year, and now have nine permanent pro bono programmes, as well as a variety of ad hoc requests. The firm’s efforts are centered around three pillars: disability rights, children’s rights and access to justice.
