Allen & Overy Application Process

Find out about each step of the Allen & Overy application process and gain a better understanding of what to expect.

Stage one

The first step of the application process is to complete an online application form, which details your work and education history. You’ll also be required to complete two application questions.

Stage two

The next stage is to complete an Situational Judgement Test (SJT), which is an immersive video based test involving verbal and numerical reasoning items. The test should take around 30-40 minutes to complete, but is untimed. Its aim is to provide a preview of what trainees at Allen & Overy will experience in their role. You’ll be given 48 hours to complete the test.

Stage three

Successful candidates will then attend an assessment day, involving two interviews. The first one will be based on a commercial case study, where you’ll work through a brief and prepare a presentation to deliver to your interviewer. The interview will also involve a discussion based on the case study. The second interview will involve being asked a series of questions, based on hypothetical situations you may encounter as a trainee.

Allen & Overy aims to get back to their applicants as quickly as possible. You can be sure that you’ll receive constructive feedback on how you performed during the process.
