The Vacation Schemes at Latham & Watkins are designed for you to get to know us better. Accepting a training contract is an important decision and we typically recruit the majority of our trainees from our vacation schemes, so would encourage all applicants who are able to, to apply for one in the first instance.
The Vacation Scheme
You’ll split your two weeks with us between two departments, sharing an office with a lawyer to see how they work and ask them about life at Latham. We are one of the few global elite firms who offer the opportunity for you to express a preference for your seats, and we do our best to ensure you spend time in at least one of your preferred departments. The vacation scheme also includes a number of networking and social events, for you to get an idea of life beyond the desk at Latham.
Once you’ve got to know us, you’ll have an interview during your second week for our Training Contract. We know that being a good trainee isn’t just about being able to interview well, so we’ll also ask you to produce two pieces of writing and give a short presentation to your peers. These assessments, along with feedback from your manager allow us to get full picture of your time with us, and your fit with our culture and values.

You should be in the penultimate year of your law degree, or final year of a non-law degree or beyond if you wish to apply for our vacation schemes. We would expect all candidates to have achieved AAB at A-level (or equivalent) and a 2.1 in their undergraduate degree where applicable.
The deadline for applications is 8 January 2017. Please note that we do not recruit on a rolling basis, therefore you can expect to hear from us after the deadline.
