A training contract at Latham & Watkins is designed to help you get the most out of a demanding role, whilst truly enjoying your first steps on a valuable and exciting career path. You will be one of a select group of new trainees and will get the opportunity to make an important contribution almost immediately.

Before you start

Like most leading law firms, we recruit the majority of our trainees two years in advance of their start date, and as a future trainee you’ll be paired with a mentor to keep in touch with during this time. You’ll also be invited to a number of social events with Latham, so you’ll see some familiar faces when you join.

We also offer full sponsorship/reimbursement for the GDL and/or LPC for all our future trainees.

The Training Contract

As we recruit the majority of our trainees from our Vacation Schemes we would encourage all candidates to apply via that route if possible.

Should you wish to apply directly for a Training Contract, the application form for our 2019 class will be available from April 2017. The deadline for applications will be 2 July 2017.

You should be in the penultimate year of your law degree, or final year of a non-law degree or beyond if you wish to apply for our vacation schemes. We would expect all candidates to have achieved AAB at A-level (or equivalent) and a 2.1 in their undergraduate degree where applicable.

Application process

  1. Online application (6 April 2017 - 2 July 2017)
  2. Video interview (July 2017)
  3. Assessment day, consisting of a written task and two interviews, one including a presentation (July - August 2017)
